The HistoPad: what it actually shows

What the tablet reconstructs, which two eras it covers, and how families use it.

Built by Histovery, handed out at the door

The HistoPad is a tablet guide developed by Histovery and picked up by visitors at the Conciergerie's entrance. Hold it up at marked spots around the building and it shows a 360-degree reconstruction of the room around you.

Two eras, not one

The device reconstructs the Palais de la Cité under Philip the Fair in the 14th century and prison life during the Revolution, layering both onto the same bare stone rooms you're standing in — so the great hall becomes a working royal space one minute and a revolutionary prison the next.

A treasure hunt for children

A family mode hides pieces of treasure, virtually, around the building for children to find with the tablet — a reasonable answer to the usual problem with medieval architecture, which is that it doesn't hold a seven-year-old's attention on its own.

It's the building's own feature

The HistoPad is part of the monument's own visit, wherever you book your way in — it isn't a Viator add-on or something this guide arranges.
